On April 24, 2026, the Customs Department issued an urgent notice on the deployment of key tasks during the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival holiday and April 30 - May 1, 2026, with the overarching requirement of ensuring uninterrupted customs clearance operations, maintaining discipline and strictly controlling risks.
Accordingly, regional Customs Sub-Departments are required to focus forces to do a good job of customs clearance and goods clearance throughout the holiday period, not allowing congestion at border gates. In parallel, strengthen risk management, inspection, supervision, and promptly detect and handle violations.
Notably, the work of combating smuggling and trade fraud is placed at a high level during this occasion. The Sub-Department of Anti-Smuggling Investigation and related units must closely coordinate with the Border Guard force, Coast Guard and functional agencies to control key routes and areas, prevent violations from early and far.
The Customs Department also emphasized the requirement to tighten discipline and public service order. Units must proactively detect and strictly handle acts of harassment and causing trouble to businesses and people. At the same time, strengthen measures to prevent negativity and corruption in the performance of tasks, contributing to creating a favorable environment for production and business activities.
Another noteworthy point is the requirement to maintain a 24/7 duty regime throughout the industry. Units must ensure sufficient manpower and means to handle work promptly and smoothly, without delaying administrative procedures. Immediately after the holiday, the entire system must urgently start working from the first working day, and synchronously deploy tasks for 2026.
In addition to professional tasks, the Customs Department requests officials, civil servants, and employees to strictly implement regulations on traffic safety, fire and explosion prevention, property protection and maintaining security and order throughout the holidays.
The urgent notice shows the determination of the Customs sector in both creating trade facilitation and effectively controlling risks, ensuring that import and export activities are not interrupted during the peak period of holidays.
