Natural Substances for Early-Season Sweet Fruits
In early August, many longan growers in Tan Hung commune (Hung Yen province) are focusing on fertilizing, pruning branches, checking pests and diseases in their gardens and monitoring the fruit farming process. Many longan gardens have begun to "grow", with fruit arranged in a tight schedule, and shell brightly shiny, promising a bumper harvest.
According to Mr. Tran Van My - Director of Quyet Thang Speciality Fruit and Seafood Farming Cooperative, the early leaves this year are expected to start harvesting from mid to late August, depending on the weather. This stage is very important, it is necessary to water organics regularly, combining pests with biological methods to maintain fruit quality. If you take good care of the technique, the label will have a more beautiful and sweet design.
Mr. Tran Van My said: "We started taking care of the trees early using organic methods. The dead fish are kept for about a year, taking rich, well-drained water to water the plants. We also use corn and bean sprouts to supplement the flowering and fruiting stages. Healthy plants, sweet fruits, long-lasting aroma and few pests and diseases".
Not only taking care of them with natural nutrients, Tan Hung people also proactively take care of early flower production techniques by regulating water, pruning branches and fertilizing at the right time. Thanks to that, many gardens harvest early from the end of July and the beginning of August - a time when the market does not have much supply and prices are high.
"Making longan early must be persistent and understanding the plant. Each season is different, so we should closely monitor each growth stage of the plant to take appropriate care. Early brands do not have much output, but the quality is good, so they can be sold at a good price and easy to consume" - Mr. My shared more.

Expanding output, linking production with experience
According to the professional industry, developing early ripe longan helps people proactively prepare for the season, avoid concentrating on the main crop, and at the same time increase economic efficiency by selling at a higher price. To enhance product value, the province encourages cooperatives, cooperatives and gardeners to link in production - consumption and apply label care techniques in an organic and sustainable direction.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hung Yen has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue many policies and guidelines; develop projects and models for developing clean agriculture in the direction of VietGAP, organic.
At the same time, the department proactively coordinates with localities to propagate and mobilize people to expand the label production area according to the VietGAP process, expand the label growing area granted the growing area code for export.
In Tan Hung, in addition to selling fresh fruit, people also combine to welcome tourists to experience the longan garden. During the harvest season, many groups of visitors from Hanoi, Hai Phong, and neighboring provinces have come to visit, take photos, and pick longan in the garden. Some households also organize preliminary preparation and packaging on the spot to serve tourists to bring home as gifts.
"Customers come to pick longan, take photos, and then come back next year. Many people not only buy them in the garden but also put labels as gifts and send them far away. Branded not only for selling weight, but also for services, tourism - value thanks to which has also increased" said Mr. My.
The combination of organic agricultural production with tourism experience is opening a new direction for Tan Hung farmers. From a specialty fruit, the Hung Yen label has increasingly affirmed its brand not only domestically but also consumed in export markets such as China, Korea, Japan, etc.
