According to a report by Ookla - the operator of Speedtest platform, in the first half of 2025, data from Speedtest Intelligence shows that Viettel achieved an average download speed of 165.03 Mbps, in which the average 5G download speed was up to 594.16 Mbps, far surpassing competitors in the market. This result helped Viettel win the title of "Best Mobile Network" and "Best 5G Network" in Vietnam, demonstrating its outstanding capacity in deploying infrastructure and optimizing user experience.

Viettel is also considered the most stable mobile network, with 97.4% of the measured model achieving or exceeding the 5 Mbps download speed threshold and 1 Mbps upload speed. This index reflects the ability to maintain stable performance, ensuring users have a smooth experience in most usage situations.
In the Game Score category, Viettel achieved 79.81 points, leading the whole market. This index is calculated based on latency, stability (jitter) and responsiveness when playing online games, showing that Viettel brings optimal experience to users who love online games.
Synthesizing the technologies, Viettel achieved Speed Score 82.56, becoming the fastest mobile network operator in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vinaphone and Mobifone recorded 78.69 Mbps and 68.45 Mbps respectively for average download speeds significantly lower than Viettel.
Viettel also leads the market in average download speed, reaching 34.2 Mbps, and latency at 34 mil turned signal, demonstrating fast and stable connectivity across the network.
The reason Viettel has achieved this result comes from the strong and rapid deployment of the 5G network in Vietnam, which is considered one of the main factors. In addition, investing in international and domestic fiber optic cable systems with new fibre technology helps increase speed and bandwidth. In addition, support policies, digital transformation, and telecommunications infrastructure orientation are considered national strategic infrastructure, which are also the reasons for this result.

Officially put into business 5G service from October 15, 2024, less than 1 year, Viettel 5G has reached 10 million users and is approaching the goal of reaching 12 million users in 2025. According to a survey, 70% of Viettel 5G package buyers are impressed with the data addition promotion. The average monthly traffic of each customer using data (DOU) on a 5G subscriber is twice as much as that of a 4G subscriber and continues to buy additional daily traffic packages. This shows that the demand for data use among Vietnamese people is increasing.
According to telecommunications experts, this is a clear manifestation of the experience expansion effect. Users often think that the current traffic is enough, but when more is provided, they are forced to start new behaviors. This is also a behavior that is recorded as a trend in developed markets around the world. In India, after the commercialization of 5G, the average traffic of each Jio customer using Jio data has increased by 3 times. In Thailand and China, the consumption of data in the whole market increased by 1.5 times. Statistics show that the rapid popularity of large-scale 5G is shaping data consumption habits. When 5G has a wide enough coverage area, rich equipment and affordable prices, users tend to quickly switch to more dense data consumption (through the use of HD/4K video, cloud gaming, XR), causing DOU to increase by one and a half to double in just a few years.
In 2025, Viettel will deploy an additional 22,000 5G stations, accumulating the ownership of 29,000 5G stations, to expand coverage, improve the quality of the 5G network, and maintain its No. 1 position in digital infrastructure in Vietnam. The number of new 5G stations is 3 times the number of Viettel stations launched with this service on October 15, 2024 (6,500 stations) and 2 times the total number of 5G stations of all network operators serving in Vietnam (11,000 stations) as of June 2025.
Also according to Ookla's report, data from Speedtest Intelligence shows that VinaPhone is the fastest 5G network operator in Vietnam with aSpeed Score of 78.11. VinaPhone leads in average download speed, reaching 594.16 Mbps, followed by Viettel (with 421.61 Mbps) and MobiFone (reaching 306.5 Mbps).
alsola's Vietnam Internet Connectivity Report for the first half of 2025 shows that MobiFone leads in two categories: Best mobile video experience and Best 5G gaming experience.
For the first category, Mobifone won 74.46 points, higher than three opponents Vinaphone (72.93 points), Viettel (72.33 points) and Vietnammobile (68.29 points).
If we only consider 5G connection, no network operator would win, according to Ookla.
