Agricultural, forestry and fishery exports recorded positive results

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the growth rate of added value in the entire agricultural, forestry and fishery sector reached 3.84% over the same period in 2024. Of which, agriculture increased by 3.51%; forestry increased by 7.42%; seafood increased by 4.21%. This is the second highest growth rate in the period of 2021-2025, basically achieving the growth target for the first 6 months of the year.
Despite difficulties due to market fluctuations, in July, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products is estimated to reach 6 billion USD, bringing the total export turnover in the first month of the year to 39.68 billion USD, up nearly 15%, of which the trade surplus reached 11.52 billion USD, up 15.9%. For rice, the export volume in July is estimated at 750 thousand tons with a value of 366.1 million USD, bringing the total volume and export value of rice in the first 7 months of the year to 5.5 million tons and 2.81 billion USD. Pepper export volume in July is estimated at 22 thousand tons with a value of 143 million USD, bringing the total volume and value of pepper exports in the first 7 months of the year to 145.3 thousand tons and 991.1 million USD.
The export value of vegetables and fruits in July is estimated at 810 million USD, bringing the total export value of vegetables and fruits in the first 7 months of the year to 3.92 billion USD, up 0.9% over the same period in 2024.
Speaking with Lao Dong, according to Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen - General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, since May, durian has officially returned to the "race", growing strongly in many markets, including China, Thailand, Cambodia... The time also coincides with the key durian harvest such as the Central Highlands, the Southeast region - where the cadimi infection rate is low, so there are more goods meeting export standards.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and Vietnamese enterprises have now better controlled technical indicators such as O gold and cadimi - factors that have caused goods to be returned. Many businesses require gardeners and intermediaries to check quality before importing goods, helping to increase customs clearance rates.
In July, seafood exports are estimated at 950 million USD, bringing the total value in the first 7 months of the year to 6.06 billion USD, up 13.8% over 2024. Wood and wood products contributed 1.5 billion USD in July, bringing the total export value to 9.67 billion USD.
Maintaining the export target of 65 70 billion USD
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien said that in the last months of the year, the entire sector will continue to promote the synchronous implementation of Resolutions, laws, strategies, plans, and action programs with the orientation of developing sustainable, efficient, transparent, and multi-value agriculture.
The whole industry aims to complete the growth plan and import-export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in 2025.
To cope with tariff policies and changes in market structure, in the coming time, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will focus on expanding key markets such as Europe, Africa and Halal. Restructuring and focusing on agricultural product production at more competitive prices is also one of the important strategies to maintain the export target of 65-70 billion USD in 2025.
The Ministry continues to implement a strategy for developing the agriculture, livestock, aquaculture and forestry sectors, ensuring domestic supply and exports. The Ministry also develops a production plan according to the value chain, adjusts it to suit the market, and controls product quality to develop Vietnamese agricultural product brands. At the same time, the Ministry of searches for new growth space for the 2026-2030 period strives to achieve industry growth of 6%/year, some years exceeding 12%.
