On March 2, the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling and Environment, Bac Ninh Provincial Police discovered and prevented 2 paper production facilities in Phong Khe Industrial Cluster, Bac Ninh City from resuming operations without meeting the prescribed conditions.
The Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, Smuggling and Environment has drawn up a record, requiring the establishments to sign a commitment not to re-offend and strictly handle it according to the provisions of law.
Implementing the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, in recent times, Bac Ninh city has been proactive in inspecting and handling environmental pollution in Phong Khe ward; 135/137 paper production facilities in Phong Khe industrial clusters have stopped operating.
The authorities have fined 21 facilities without an environmental license according to regulations with a total fine of more than 4.1 billion VND, and applied the additional penalty of suspending the operation of waste generators without an environmental license for 4 months and 15 days.
However, recently, some paper production facilities in Phong Khe Industrial Cluster have secretly resumed operations at night when they do not meet the prescribed conditions.
To thoroughly resolve this situation, Bac Ninh city has established patrol teams, strengthened coordination with functional units to regularly inspect, monitor, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle establishments with signs of covert operations.
For establishments that deliberately operate and do not comply with environmental protection laws, the records will be consolidated and criminal liability will be handled in accordance with the provisions of law.
