More than 2,000 union members participate in disaster recovery
Currently, the Yen Bai Provincial Federation of Labor manages 13 grassroots trade unions, 1,058 grassroots trade unions, and 45,573 union members. In 2024, 41 new grassroots trade unions will be established, including 39/30 non-state sector trade unions, 2,843/2,250 new union members will be developed, 5/3 informal grassroots trade unions will be newly established; 228/250 new union members will be admitted to the informal sector.
In order to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Provincial Federation of Labor coordinated with the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to use the Provincial Federation of Labor Sports Gymnasium as a point to receive relief goods of the province; established a "Trade Union Emergency Rescue Team" consisting of 13 members, performing 30 days of duty with 62 working days to transport 127 tons of various goods, escorting 29 shipments to districts, towns and cities in the province.
Trade unions at all levels mobilized over 2,000 union members and workers to perform thousands of tasks, contributing to restoring production and stabilizing people's lives after natural disasters.
At the conference, Mr. Ta Van Long - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Yen Bai province - commended the results and achievements of the work and activities of the provincial trade union in 2024 and highly appreciated the activities of building the "Trade Union Social Fund" to support funding for building Trade Union Shelters for 17 union families with an amount of 705 million VND; providing emergency assistance to 163 union members with an amount of 218.5 million VND; giving gifts to 500 union members in difficult circumstances on the occasion of Workers' Month and Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Health with an amount of 150 million VND...
Regarding the tasks for 2025, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee suggested that trade unions at all levels focus on grassroots activities, taking the results of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers as a measure of the effectiveness of trade union activities, continuing to innovate emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good workers, Creative workers", considering emulation work as a driving force and encouragement for union members and workers to complete assigned tasks well.
Consider union member development a vital task
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized that the Yen Bai Provincial Confederation of Labor needs to focus on activities to care for union members and workers, especially during the Lunar New Year 2025 according to the policies and plans of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, promote training, fostering, and building a team of union officials with capacity, qualifications, enthusiasm, skills, and working methods that proactively adapt to changes in the situation and requirements and tasks of the new period, strengthen inspection and supervision work, focusing on inspection and supervision of financial work at all union levels.
“2025 is a year with many important holidays and political events of the country, the year of Party Congresses at all levels, so the provincial trade union needs to launch emulation to carry out works to welcome the Party Congress in conjunction with effectively implementing existing emulation movements of trade unions and local Party committees,” the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared.
Ms. Thai Thu Xuong also suggested that Yen Bai trade unions at all levels consider union member development a vital task, taking union members and workers as the center of all activities.
On this occasion, the Standing Committee of the Yen Bai Provincial Federation of Labor awarded certificates of merit to the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund; Northwest Office - Lao Dong Newspaper and Reporter Cao Van Tuan - Northwest Office - Lao Dong Newspaper for his many achievements in caring for union members and workers in the area.
