On July 22, the inspection and supervision delegation of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Supreme People's Procuracy (KSND) worked in Dak Lak province on the coordination of inspection and supervision of law compliance in temporary detention, temporary custody and criminal judgment enforcement in 2026.
During the program, the delegation conducted inspection and supervision at Detention Center No. 1 of Dak Lak Provincial Police.
The working delegation was co-chaired by Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Cao Xuan Thao and Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy Tran Hai Quan.
Reporting at the working session, Colonel Y San Adrong - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Police - said that from July 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026, the work of temporary detention, temporary custody and criminal judgment enforcement in the area was deployed in accordance with regulations, without serious violations occurring.
According to Colonel Y San Adrong, the temporary detention and custody management agency and the criminal judgment enforcement agency of the Provincial Police have issued 3 plans and decisions to inspect and conduct 58 inspections at detention facilities and commune and ward police. During the period, functional forces advised on transferring and issued decisions to transfer 585 people who were temporarily detained and temporarily detained between facilities to serve investigation, prosecution, trial and judgment enforcement.
Currently, the Provincial Police are managing 11 people sentenced to death, including 9 people at Detention Center No. 1 and 2 people at Detention Center No. 2. The report records 2 cases of detainees dying due to illness; no detainees absconded, and no new cases of crime were detected in the detention facility.
Deputy Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuracy Tran Hai Quan said that the work of temporary detention, temporary custody and criminal judgment enforcement in Dak Lak has achieved many positive results, meeting procedural requirements and ensuring human rights.
The coordination between judicial agencies and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province has contributed to maintaining security and order in the locality.
However, this work still faces some difficulties due to degraded detention infrastructure, pressure to extract and escort detainees on long journeys, and the shortage of female detention guards.
According to Mr. Tran Hai Quan, relevant agencies need to continue to improve legal regulations, arrange appropriate human resources, strengthen coordination in online trials and tighten inspection work, to prevent loopholes and unsafety in detention management and judgment enforcement.
In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation continued to inspect and supervise at Dak Trung Prison under the Ministry of Public Security.
