According to monitoring data from the hydrometeorological agency, in the past 10 hours, many areas have recorded moderate to heavy rainfall. In Da Nang, Tam Tra station measured 84.6mm of rain. In Quang Ngai, Tra Hiep and Tra Thanh points recorded 112.2mm and 105.4mm respectively. The concentrated rainfall in a short period of time limits the ability to drain water naturally.
The results of the soil moisture model show that many areas have reached a nearly saturated state, with a moisture of over 85%, and some places have even been completely saturated. This is an unfavorable condition, increasing the risk of landslides on steep slopes, especially in areas with strongly cut-off terrain, thickly phonglized land and along small streams.
In the following period, Da Nang and Quang Ngai areas will continue to be forecast to have rain. Accumulated rainfall is generally from 2050mm, in some places over 70mm. Consecutive rain causing the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in many communes and wards is assessed at a noteworthy level.
The competent authority issued a warning of natural disaster risk level due to flash floods, landslides and subsidence warnings at level 1. However, the potential impact is huge. Flash floods and landslides can cause serious damage to the environment, directly threaten people's safety, disrupt local traffic, destroy houses, infrastructure works and negatively affect socio-economic activities.
People in high-risk areas need to closely monitor weather developments and proactively take preventive measures to minimize damage.
