On July 16, Tuyen Quang Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong province) said that the locality had just received a rare flower iguana individual voluntarily handed over by people.
Previously, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nam (resident of Tien Thanh village, Tuyen Quang commune) discovered a flower iguana individual and proactively handed it over to the Commune People's Committee for handling according to regulations.

Through inspection, functional agencies determined that the vase lizard individual weighed about 4kg, was about 1.3m long, had normal health, was agile and had no injuries.
After receiving it, Tuyen Quang Commune People's Committee issued a notice to verify the owner or legal manager of this animal individual.
According to Tuyen Quang Commune People's Committee, within 5 working days, from July 14 to 18, if no organization or individual comes to claim according to regulations, the locality will coordinate with specialized agencies to release the flower iguana individual back to its natural environment.
According to functional agencies, the varanus salvator belongs to the list of endangered, precious, and rare forest animals of Group IIB.
People's proactive handover of wild animals contributes to protecting biodiversity and improving the effectiveness of management and conservation of forest animals in the area.
