Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu emphasized: To effectively implement the planning content and orientation to build Gia Rai town to meet the criteria of a type III urban area and gradually become a city by 2025, there is still a lot of work to do.
Mr. Thieu suggested that Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations in the town focus on promoting propaganda and widely disseminating the core contents of the town's master plan to all levels, sectors, business communities and people. From there, create unity in awareness and high determination, great efforts, drastic and effective actions in implementing the plan.
Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu requested Gia Rai town to mobilize and effectively use State, private and other legal resources to focus on investing in developing the infrastructure system, ensuring synchronization and modernity. In particular, priority is given to investing in resettlement areas, traffic infrastructure, electricity and clean water infrastructure, climate change adaptation infrastructure and social infrastructure of the town.
At the same time, improve the efficiency of land exploitation to create budget sources for development investment; continue to innovate, promote digital transformation, build an effective digital government, create breakthroughs in administrative reform. Improve the investment and business environment, develop a strong business community; create a favorable environment for investment promotion, mobilize resources to implement the planning.
Previously, on October 29, 2024, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province issued Decision No. 359/QD-UBND approving the Master Plan of Gia Rai town, Bac Lieu province to 2045.
According to the master plan, Gia Rai town develops in 3 areas (3 zones) including: zone 1 is the center (comprehensive development); zone 2 is the industrial and service development zone; zone 3 is the ecological agricultural development zone.
The master plan identifies Gia Rai as playing an important role in connecting urban areas in the surrounding area and as a driving force in the urban development strategy of Bac Lieu province. Gia Rai in the future will play an important role in the economic development of the region, as a transit point for agricultural and aquatic products; an important traffic hub of the Ca Mau peninsula.
Mr. Do Minh Thang - Chairman of Gia Rai Town People's Committee - said: Many key projects that highlight the town have been invested in and built; urban space expansion planning has been focused on, in order to create conditions for the development of new residential areas, promote industry, handicrafts and the trade - service - tourism system to develop in accordance with the town's potential and strengths.
