The report of the General Statistics Office issued on March 6 shows: In February 2025, it is estimated to reach nearly 1.9 million people, an increase of 23.7% over the same period last year. In the first two months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 3.96 million, an increase of 30.2% over the same period last year.
However, to reach 22-23 million international visitors in 2025, creating a breakthrough momentum for the following years, new policies are needed to support the tourism industry.
At the regular Government meeting in February 2025 held on March 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to study appropriate visa policies, especially for traditional friend countries, diversifying visa exemptions for some countries and billionaires in the world.
The tourism industry, localities and the tourism service business community are excited by this information.
In reality, in early 2025, growth from European markets is partly due to the policy of increasing the temporary residence period from 15 days to 45 days for 13 countries exempted from unilateral visas according to Resolution 128/NQ-CP of the Government.
If we study expanding to some countries, Vietnam's tourism will attract visitors from new markets, growth is a solid thing in hand.
In recent years, some localities in the country have successfully organized tours for the super-rich, billionaire, and trieu phu from many countries. Big names that have chosen Vietnam as a place to experience such as Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates are a value promotion for Vietnam's tourism industry.
The event of 50 billionaires arriving in Da Nang on Gulfstream aircraft in mid-October 2024 was a great PR not only for Da Nang.
The 2025 Ha Long Climate Art Program with the theme "For the Future of the Earth" includes many attractive activities taking place from June 20-028 in Ha Long City, promising to gather hundreds of European billionaires to be a shocking event for international tourism.
More and more people in the super-rich world are coming to Vietnam, and the policy of exempting visas for billionaires is appropriate.
The Government creates policies to attract international tourists, but successful implementation depends on the capacity of businesses.
For example, for the super-rich, there must be special services to meet high demand, unique cuisine, information security and safety. Billionaires are not only rich in money but they are also rich in intelligence, they have the need to enjoy art, culture, and experience the perfect sports space. Domestic businesses are required to have products for the super-rich, their talk about a satisfying experience is worth more than another expensive advertising investment.
Hopefully there will be a breakthrough in tourism this year.
