On May 30, the leader of Khanh Hoa Department of Health informed that the unit has just completed the comments on the draft regulation on the policy of training health human resources for the provincial General Hospital to become a South Central Coastal Regional Hospital for the period of 2026 - 2030.
At the seminar on "Specific policies to attract human resources to meet the requirements of high-quality health development and towards a smart health system - Lessons learned in the world and Vietnam", organized by the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council on May 29, many experts assessed the current situation and forecasted the needs of medical human resources in the new context.
According to specialist II Le Van Khoa - Director of the Department of Health, the whole province has more than 7,420 health workers, of which public health workers account for 86% (nearly 6,370 people), private health workers account for 14%.
The total number of doctors in the province is more than 1,630 people, including 6 doctors, 62 level II specialists, and 273 level I specialists.
The number of doctors/10,000 people reached 12.9, exceeding the target of the Resolution of the XVIII Provincial Party Congress. With the above human resources and facilities, the provincial health sector basically meets the health care needs for people in the province.
In the 2025-2030 period, Khanh Hoa province is aiming to build a modern, smart, and regional-scale health system. Along with the merger of the new Khanh Hoa province, it will also orient to become a centrally-governed city by 2030. The demand for medical human resources is expected to increase along with new development orientation planning of the locality.
According to experts, Khanh Hoa's medical infrastructure is not yet synchronous and has not met regional requirements. The number of specialized, high-tech doctors is still very limited. Professor, Dr. Doan Quoc Hung - Director of Clinical Training - Vinmec System, shared - With the existing system of patients, Khanh Hoa should establish a network of satellite academic hospitals between medical facilities inside and outside the province to increase training, consultation, and continuous technical transfer; issue a mechanism for evaluating local doctors and experts. The province also needs to build a high-quality health human resource development fund to support specialized training scholarships, technical transfer, and international cooperation. In March 2025, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council issued a Resolution approving the investment policy for the Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital Construction Project to become a hospital in the South Central Coast region. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Health said that in the context of promoting decentralization and delegation of authority, Khanh Hoa needs to be more proactive in using resources to have better treatment policies for health workers.
