Reduce belly fat is always on the list of the most popular health goals every beginning of the year. However, this is also a goal that makes many people quickly lose motivation, because the belly fat area is often "stubborn" and difficult to change. According to fitness experts, the reason is not in lack of effort, but in the incorrect approach.
Rishabh Telang, a fitness expert and founder of Cult Fit (Bengaluru, India), shared the core principles to help reduce belly fat effectively.
First of all, Mr. Telang refutes a very common misconception that it is impossible to reduce local fat in the abdomen alone.
If you want your belly to be slimmer, your body must reduce overall fat," Telang emphasized. Belly exercises can help firm muscles, but they cannot burn fat in just one specific position.
The first principle mentioned by Telang is to exercise regularly. According to the trainer, exercise is the foundation of every fat reduction journey. Combining weightlifting and cardio is ideal, but more importantly, maintaining regularity.

Choose the activity you love, because any form of exercise is better than not exercising," Mr. Telang shared.
The second principle is to eat smartly. Telang recommends that each meal should have enough lean protein to support muscles and feeling full, and supplement with green vegetables, fruits and nuts.
He also especially emphasized that controlling portions is to eat until just enough, avoid overeating causing discomfort. According to the trainer, eating balanced and consciously is much more important than strict diets.
The third tip that Telang calls the "top secret": eating slowly. Eating speed directly affects weight control ability.
When eating slowly and chewing thoroughly, the body has time to recognize the sign of fullness, thereby limiting excessive eating. “Eating slowly helps you listen to your own biological hunger signals,” Telang said, while saying that this is a simple but very effective habit for the goal of reducing belly fat.
The ultimate principle is "to listen and understand your body". According to Telang, each body reacts differently to diet and exercise.
If you don't see any changes after a few weeks, you can try adjusting by reducing your intake by 10-15% or increasing your daily activity, and then monitoring the results. The trial and error process is normal and helps you better understand how your body works.
Telang emphasizes that belly fat reduction is not a sprint, but a long-term journey. When persistent with basic principles and flexible adjustment, the results will come naturally and sustainably.
