New Year's parties often come with staying up late, alcohol, foods high in fat and sugar. Enjoying the festival atmosphere is necessary, but then many people fall into a state of fatigue, bloating, indigestion and lack of energy. This is when the body signals to be "re-established".
According to nutritionist Vidhi Chawla (working at Fisico Diet Clinic in New Delhi, India), the concept of detoxifying the body by fasting or only drinking juice for many days is wrong.
In fact, the body already has a natural detoxification system including the liver, kidneys and intestines. It is important to support these organs to function more effectively through a scientific lifestyle.
First of all, sufficient water supplementation plays a key role. Alcohol, salty foods and lack of sleep easily cause the body to lose water. Drinking enough water during the day helps eliminate toxins, support digestion and improve energy levels. In addition to filtered water, warm water, herbal tea or broth can be used to increase hydration effectiveness.
In addition, fiber-rich foods help cleanse the digestive system after excessive eating. Green vegetables, fruits, whole grains, oats, beans and nuts not only support intestinal motility but also nourish beneficial microorganisms, thereby improving digestion and immunity.
Experts also recommend sharply reducing refined sugar, alcohol, and processed foods for at least a few days after the holiday. These foods are prone to inflammation, disrupting the intestinal microbiome, and prolonging fatigue. Reducing them helps the body quickly regain balance.
The liver is the most important "detoxification factory", so it needs to be supported by suitable foods such as garlic, turmeric, lemon, astragalus and green leafy vegetables. Foods rich in antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress and support liver enzymes to function more effectively.
Regarding exercise, there is no need to do high-intensity exercise right after parties. Walking, light yoga, stretching or slow cycling for about 30 minutes each day helps improve circulation, stimulate digestion and support sweat-borne detoxification.
Sleep is also an unavoidable factor. Staying up late for a long time disrupts hormones and the circadian clock. Sleeping enough 7-8 hours each night helps the body recover, control cravings and improve alertness.
Finally, instead of skipping meals, maintain light, balanced meals. Simple, easy-to-digest dishes such as soup, porridge, vegetable soup, yogurt and fruit help the digestive system rest but still have enough nutrients.
Body detoxification after the new year does not require extreme measures. Small, regular changes are the healthiest way for the body to recover and become full of energy again.
