Khanh Hoa - The locality is gradually transforming the health sector digitally with the goal of promoting the application of digital technology in medical examination and treatment and health management activities.

On July 21, news from Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that the locality has a plan to implement the Digital Transformation Strategy for the Health sector in the period 2026-2030 with the goal of promoting the application of digital technology in medical examination and treatment and health management activities.

According to the plan, right in 2026, the province aims for 100% of medical treatment facilities to extract output data to serve health insurance payments and related regimes; complete data interconnection according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health to serve health insurance settlement and Project 06.

Along with that, 100% of medical facilities will deploy electronic medical records (EMR), moving towards not using paper medical records and implementing hospital fee payments without cash.

The health sector also sets a target of 100% of information systems being approved for safety levels, and at the same time fully implements plans to ensure information system safety according to levels.

In 2026, the province will also complete the technical plan and deploy real-time data connection tests with the Provincial IOC Center.

In the period 2027-2028, Khanh Hoa strives for 100% of commune and ward health stations to deploy information technology applications in managing people's health records and grassroots health management software.

The locality also sets a target of 90% or more of people having electronic health records (EHRs), and at the same time being managed for non-communicable diseases and infectious diseases on the digital health platform.

By the period 2029-2030, Khanh Hoa Health sector will widely apply new digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data (Big Data) and Internet of Things in healthcare (IoMT) to 80% of core professional activities.

According to the plan, the province will also complete the construction and put into operation the Medical Image Data Warehouse (PACS Cloud), supporting 50% or more of image diagnostic cases using AI models.

Mr. Nguyen Van Minh (52 years old, Nha Trang ward) said that the Khanh Hoa Health sector's promotion of the application of new digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data (Big Data) and Internet of Things in healthcare (IoMT) is an inevitable trend, bringing many practical benefits to people.

Mr. Minh expects that when these technologies are widely applied, the time for medical examination and treatment will be shortened, diagnostic results will be more accurate, and people will also be more convenient when carrying out medical examination and treatment procedures.

In particular, electronic health records will help doctors easily monitor the treatment process of patients, especially those with chronic diseases who have to be examined many times.

I hope the health sector will deploy synchronously, ensuring that personal data is kept confidential so that people can feel secure using digital health services," Mr. Minh shared.
