Storm No. 10 has passed for several weeks, but the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen (39 years old, residing in Hoanh Son ward, Ha Tinh province, a worker at Hieu Thuan Company) has not yet had the tiled roof completely blown off in the storm.
Ms. Yen said that because the house was built many years ago, the structure was weak, the walls were cracked, she now does not dare to re-roof it for fear of not being safe.
"I am planning to build a new house, but currently I do not have savings so I cannot do it yet. Since the storm, the mother and child have had to stay at her grandparents' house. Maybe in the next few months, I will rent a house to make it more convenient for the children to go to school closer," Ms. Yen shared.
Ms. Yen said that her husband, a driver in the South, rarely comes home and his income is also unstable, while she works as a worker and earns 7 million VND per month, which is just enough to cover living expenses and raising 2 children to study. Ms. Yen's eldest child is currently in grade 8, and her 4-year-old child is in preschool.
According to Ms. Yen, after the storm, leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Ha Tinh Provincial Federation of Labor, and the Ha Tinh Provincial Economic Zone Trade Union directly came to encourage and support the family with 2 million VND.
Hoanh Son ward officials also came to record the family's damage after the storm to make a list and report to superiors for attention and support when allocated funding. However, until now, she still does not know if her family has any support.
Mr. Ngo Dinh Van - Vice President of the Ha Tinh Provincial Federation of Labor, when coming to give support to Ms. Yen's family whose house was damaged after the storm, encouraged the family to try to overcome difficulties, work with peace of mind and produce.
According to Mr. Ngo Dinh Van, it is hoped that many organizations and individuals will be kind and support Ms. Yen's family to soon repair the house to have a place to settle down and stabilize their lives.
