Lam Dong - Floods have caused many households along the Krong No river (Dam Rong 4 commune) to have their cows washed away, their coffee gardens... and their businesses lost.

On the afternoon of November 27, in Dam Rong 4 commune (Lam Dong province), the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund donated 50 million VND to support local people to overcome the consequences of storms and floods.

From this funding source, 50 ethnic minority households in Da Nhinh 1, Da Nhinh 2, Lan Tranh, Lan Tranh 2 and village 3 received gifts worth 1 million VND/household.

According to Mr. Hoang Manh Huynh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dam Rong 4 commune, the recent historic flood caused heavy damage, deeply affecting the lives of hundreds of households.

People here mainly depend on agricultural production such as growing coffee, raising cows, and digging ponds to release fish.

"Life was already difficult, now the floodwaters of the Krong No river have washed away fish ponds, cattle herds, and coffee gardens, causing many families to lose their businesses," Mr. Huynh shared.

That loss is clearly seen in every story of the people. Ms. Ndu K' Jieng (Da Nhinh 1 village) choked up as he said: "My family raised 4 cows, planning to sell 1 to take care of their children's education. But the flood submerged and swept away all four. All hope was lost, the family fell into a situation of being left empty-handed".

Ms. Lieng Hot K'Thom (Da Nhinh 2 village) could not hide her grief when 7 coffee stars along the Krong No river - the main source of income for the whole family - were swept away by the flood.

"Seeing the vacant coffee garden and the remaining trees buried in mud is heartbreaking," said Ms. Lieng Hot K'Thom.

According to Mr. Hoang Manh Huynh, at this time, people in flooded areas need economic support most to restore production, raise livestock and buy back lost household items.

The gifts and funds of the Golden Heart Fund are a timely source of encouragement, helping people stabilize their ideology and gradually overcome difficulties after natural disasters.
