CT UAV, a member company of CT Group (Vietnam), and its partner Airbility (Korea) conducted a test flight of the AB-U60 UAV model at Boryeong airport, Chungcheongnam-do province. This is a pilot airport funded by the Korean government, with a 450m runway and will be expanded to 1,200m, playing a strategic role in developing UAVs and urban aerospace vehicles.
The test trip took place on September 18 with the participation of leaders of both sides. Information released by the CT UAV shows that the AB-U60 UAV took off vertically, then moved by EDF engines, reaching a speed of 160 km/h before landing safely.
Previously, the miniature version AB-U4 was also successfully tested. The event is seen as a major milestone in plans to produce 5,000 heavy-duty transport UAVs in the form of OEM, based on an agreement signed in August in Seoul.
According to the plan, the AB-U60 UAV will continue to undergo many flights in different weather conditions to meet the required flight hours and technical standards before being put into mass production. The two sides will also study UAVs with a payload of 300 to 600kg according to FAA (US) standards.
CT Group said it will continue to expand international cooperation, targeting markets in the region, including Indonesia with a low-altitude economic development model.
