Forecasters are warning of the possibility of an unusually cold weather phenomenon originating from the Arctic, Bloomberg reported.
According to meteorologists and data from Weather Services International, the phenomenon of sudden heating up the average layer is increasingly likely to occur.
This weather phenomenon has fueled the extreme cold front "Eastern Monster" that caused the UK and Ireland to experience a prolonged cold spell in 2018.
The cold front is not expected to be as strong and deadly as the "Eastern Monster" this March, but this cold front could increase gas demand.
Average temperatures in early March are expected to fall below the 30-year average across northwestern and southeastern Europe. After this cold front, warmer temperatures will be recorded across Europe and will remain until nearly mid-March.
However, the high-altitude tornado in the Arctic is weakening, showing signs of separation and may weaken further due to rapid temperature increases.
Andrew Pedrini, a meteorologist at Atmospheric G2, said the phenomenon of warming up in the higher atmosphere is at risk of creating a Domino effect that could reverse winds and create a high-pressure system that pulls cold Northern air at low altitudes across Europe.
mint's latest weather bulletin said that a polar vortex collapse is expected in mid-March, leading to severe weather and serious traffic disruption across the US and Canada. This severe cold could also spread to the UK and Europe.
This is the second extreme cyclone of 2025, following a similar one in February that led to frost, causing chaos in traffic across North America.
Extreme cyclones occur when strong cold winds often circulate around the Arctic or South pole and weaken and break out, causing cold air to overflow to lower latitudes. This phenomenon can lead to extremely strong cold air masses, heavy snowfall, and frost in areas that are rarely cold at such a severe level.
The Guardian weather report shows that this severe cyclone is expected to be stronger than the February one and could weaken the atmospheric ray pattern, causing cold air from the extreme to move south into North America or Europe, increasing the risk of heavy snowfall in some areas.
Yosemite Park in California, USA, is suffering from harsh late winter weather with more than 30 cm of snow falling at high points in early March, accompanied by strong gusts of up to 80 km/h.
Meanwhile, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa upstream and punjab upstream of Pakistan are forecast to see strong winds, heavy rain and heavy snowfall in the coming days. Traffic disruptions are expected in these areas and a weather warning has been issued.
