Iran declares missile launch to destroy US HIMARS artillery system in Kuwait

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched missiles to attack the US Arifjan base in Kuwait, targeting HIMARS launchers.

On July 20 (local time), according to Iranian Islamic Republic Television (IRIB), the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had launched a missile attack on the US military base Arifjan in Kuwait.

According to the IRGC, the target of the raid was HIMARS mobile rocket artillery systems being deployed at this base.

IRIB quoted IRGC's announcement as saying that the force used surface-to-surface missiles to carry out the attack.

US HIMARS systems at Arifjan base were targeted by surface-to-surface missiles," the IRGC statement stated.

Currently, Iran has not announced the number of missiles used as well as the extent of damage after the attack.

Arifjan base is located in southern Kuwait and is one of the largest US military facilities in the Gulf region. This is an important logistics center serving Washington's military operations in the Middle East.

HIMARS is a highly mobile rocket artillery system developed by the US, capable of launching many types of rockets and tactical missiles with high accuracy. This type of equipment is widely used by the US military and has also been transferred to many allies.

The IRGC's new statement was made in the context of escalating tensions between Iran and the US after a series of attacks and military responses in the region.

Currently, the US and Kuwait have not made official comments on the IRGC's statement.

Recently, many US military bases in the Middle East have been placed on high alert due to the risk of being attacked by missiles or drones.

Observers believe that if confirmed, this will be a new development that could increase the risk of direct confrontation between Iran and the US in the Gulf region.
