Vietnam succeeds in poverty reduction, caring for ethnic minorities

Dr. Eng Kok Thay in Cambodia commented that Vietnam has achieved important development achievements such as poverty reduction, improving the life expectancy and standard of living of the people.

Sharing on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), Dr. Eng Kok Thay - Secretary of the Office of the Government of the Royal Government of Cambodia, political and historical analyst, expert in research on the issue of elimination in Cambodia, has expressed much affection and admiration for the achievements in the development of the neighboring country, as well as the diligence and self-reliance of the Vietnamese people.

Congratulating Vietnam on its achievements over the past 80 years, Dr. Eng Kok Thay said that the bold change of economic development perspective, along with policy adjustments under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, has helped Vietnam achieve important development achievements such as poverty reduction, improving the life expectancy and standard of living of its people.

Along with the success in empowering women, the poverty index in Vietnam has fallen very low and will continue to decrease further according to the sustainable development target by 2030.

With the very low poverty rate, Vietnamese people today have a happy life, have all the rights to freedom and self-determination of their future, said Dr. Eng Kok Thay.

He also expressed his admiration for the creativity and persistent efforts in labor of the Vietnamese people, especially in achieving the country's development goals and completing the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals earlier than other countries in ASEAN and the world.

In addition, Vietnam is also continuing the journey to complete the indicators in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to build a better and more sustainable world for everyone by 2030.

Hopefully for the future of Vietnam, Dr. Eng Kok Thay believes that Vietnam will soon complete and exceed the plan of its development goals, based on what has been done in the journey of the past 8 decades as well as the diligence, resourcefulness, intelligence, always promoting labor and constantly striving to rise of the Vietnamese people.

This has received admiration not only from me personally but from people in many countries around the world, including Europe - Dr. Eng Kok Thay affirmed.

Senior Cambodian officials also congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in caring for the lives and ensuring the rights of ethnic minorities, as well as space for cultural and religious activities.

These achievements reflect Vietnam's efforts and determination in developing the country in a strong, rapid, comprehensive and inclusive direction, while promoting harmony and national solidarity.
