The men's and women's singles champions at the first Grand Slam tournament in 2026 will each receive 4.15 million Australian dollars (2.79 million USD), up 19% compared to 3.5 million dollars at the Australian Open last year.
Athletes who are eliminated in the first round will receive 150,000 Australian dollars (100,750 USD), while even those who are eliminated in the first qualifying round will receive 40,500 Australian dollars (27,200 USD).
According to the organizers, all singles and doubles players at this year's tournament are guaranteed to receive a minimum bonus increase of 10% compared to last year. In addition, players will also be improved in travel support, as well as other benefits.
This 16% increase demonstrates our commitment to supporting the tennis career at all levels. From increasing qualifying bonuses to 55% since 2023 to enhancing players' rights, we are ensuring that professional tennis will be sustainable for all athletes," said Craig Tiley, CEO of the Australian Tennis Federation.
It is known that the bonus increase at the Australian Open 2026 is part of the $135 million Australian investment of the Australian Tennis Federation (Tennis Australia), aimed at strengthening the commitment to support the careers of hundreds of professional athletes.
This investment strengthens the foundation of tennis, ensuring long-term health and commercial development of this sport. By supporting athletes at all levels, we are building a richer source of talent and bringing more attractive stories to fans," Tiley continued.
Australia Open 2026 is the first Grand Slam of the new year, starting from January 18. Last year, Jannik Sinner and Madison Keys won the men's singles and women's singles respectively.
