Not to lose the advantage of supporting the women's 4x400m
Expert Valerii started working with the Vietnam Athletics Team last weekend. According to the coaching staff, the expert was present at the National High-level Athletes' Training Center (Hanoi) to meet the athletes and grasp the facilities before going to work from this week.
Mr. Valerii has a lot of experience coaching the Indian, Ukrainian and Bahrain women's athletics teams, so the manager hopes that the Ukrainian expert will do well in his profession with the Vietnam women's 4x400m athletics team.
"We put our trust in this expert and hope he will do his best to help the Vietnamese women's 4x400m athletics relay team achieve effective professional parameters" - General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - discussed.
The Vietnamese athletics team has identified the women's 4x400m relay as the focus. Therefore, the investment of funding is focused on this content. The Athletics Department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) and the Vietnam Athletics Federation require the women's 4x400m relay team to maintain the No. 1 position in Southeast Asia and be in the top group in Asia.
We have won the Gold Medal in the women's 4x400m relay at 4 consecutive SEA Games from 2017 to 2023 (SEA Games 29, 30, 31, 32). Maintaining the No. 1 position comes from the number of athletes who have reached professional maturity.
In recent times, Vietnam's athletics has had a team of female athletes with good expertise in the 400m distance. We maintain the advantage in Southeast Asia in the women's 4x400m relay event, but we must be cautious in training and investing to maintain the above advantage" - the representative of the Vietnam Athletics Team's coaching staff affirmed.
Currently, coach Nguyen Thi Bac directly coaches the women's 4x400m relay team. Now, expert Valerii will accompany Mrs. Bac to help the players improve their skills.
Focus on the ASIAD medal goal
The Vietnam Athletics Team has set a requirement for the women's 4x400m relay team to pass the SEA Games to compete in the ASIAD. In 2024, the athletes of the women's 4x400m relay team including Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Hang, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh, Nguyen Thi Ngoc were fully prepared professionally to compete officially for a place in the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) but were unsuccessful. However, this squad has brought home the Gold Medal of the 2023 Asian Championship, the Gold Medal of the 2024 Asian Support Championship and the Silver Medal of the 2025 Asian Championship.
Expert Valerii once helped the Indian women's 4x400m relay team participate in the 2024 Olympics (ranked 15.5) and won a Silver Medal at the 19th ASIAD. Now, he is a member of the coaching staff of the Vietnam Athletics Team, so the expert believes that the Vietnamese women's 400m athlete can cross the threshold to compete for an ASIAD medal.
Statistics at the three recent ASIADs show that the Vietnam women's 4x400m relay team is always approaching the top group. In 2014 at the ASIAD in Korea, our relay team ranked fifth (achievement of 3 minutes 33 seconds 20).
In 2018 at the ASIAD in Indonesia, we won the Bronze Medal (3 minutes 33 seconds 23. In 2023, at the ASIAD in China, the Vietnam women's 4x400m relay team ranked fourth (3 minutes 31, 61 seconds).
In one more year, ASIAD 20 will be held in Japan. The Vietnam Athletics Team hired experts to increase achievements and improve key achievements. The manager did not want to miss the opportunity to win a medal at the ASIAD arena. If she misses the medal at the 20th ASIAD, the female 4x400m relay team will have to wait another four years to participate in the 21st ASIAD in 2030 in Qatar.
Head of the Athletics Department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) - Mr. Nguyen Duc Nguyen said: "The expert is a professional and has been confirmed to have achieved many international competitions, so we are looking forward to his experience in helping the Vietnamese women's 4x400m relay athletes achieve good results".
