Accordingly, from the 2025-2026 season, Ba Ria - Vung Tau club will take the name of Ho Chi Minh City club, competing in the National First Division.
The decision to change the name of Ba Ria - Vung Tau club to Ho Chi Minh City is considered an important step in restructuring and positioning the brand of the team, aiming to expand influence and attract more fans.
This is also a move to create close connection in the Ho Chi Minh City football system when at the same time, the two teams of Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City were also allowed to change their names.
Accordingly, Binh Duong club will use the name Becamex HCMC, while HCMC club will officially be named Ho Chi Minh City Police, starting from the 2025-2026 V.League season.
The simultaneous appearance of 3 teams with names related to Ho Chi Minh City in different tournaments is expected to create new vitality for the city's football, while increasing competitiveness and attracting the attention of domestic fans.
