Boxer Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc became the first player of the Vietnam jujitsu Team to reach a final at this year's World Championship.
She beat host Thailand Namngam Nantita in the first match of the women's over 70kg event. Thanh Truc then passed the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
In the final, the Vietnamese player met Pfaff Rain ( Canada) but unfortunately lost the match and received a silver medal.
Also on the first day of the tournament, martial artist Phung Thi Hue competed in the women's 45kg weight class and won the bronze medal. Currently, the Vietnam jujitsu Team has won the first 2 medal results.
Participating in the 2025 World Championship, the Vietnam jujitsu Team registered 24 athletes to participate in events for men and women in weight categories.
This year's tournament will organize a competition for the championship and youth championship. The championship events will last until November 7. After that, the young athletes will compete in their events until November 15.
Currently, the Vietnam jujitsu Team is preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, so the matches at the World Championship help Vietnamese players accumulate more expertise in front of big arenas.
In this tournament, athletes from host Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore... will participate and Vietnamese athletes will grasp more about the preparation for the 33rd SEA Games of the opponents.
