On August 31, on behalf of the FIFA delegation, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom sent a thank-you letter to VFF and VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan after a working trip to Vietnam on August 26 and 27.
In the letter, Mr. Mattias Grafstrom expressed his impression of the warm, thoughtful and professional reception of the VFF. The FIFA Secretary General said that the delegation felt the friendliness from the first moments of setting foot in Vietnam, and highly appreciated the organization, dedication and coordination of the VFF team throughout the visit.
One of the highlights mentioned by FIFA General Secretary was the meeting with General Secretary and President To Lam. Mr. Mattias Grafstrom highly appreciated the sharing and strategic vision on promoting Vietnamese football to develop sustainably, thereby creating more opportunities for football as well as the young generation of Vietnam.

FIFA Secretary General also sent congratulations to VFF, the coaching staff and the Vietnamese national team after winning the ASEAN Cup 2026. He assessed that the victory in the final was completely deserved, and said that this achievement reflects the serious investment, training and efforts of Vietnamese football.
Mr. Mattias Grafstrom was particularly impressed with the love of football of Vietnamese fans. The atmosphere of celebrating victory on all streets, along with the pride and enthusiasm of fans, was seen by the FIFA Secretary General as a clear proof of the connecting and spreading power of football.
During the working trip, the FIFA delegation also surveyed the reality at the PVF Youth Football Training Center and the PVF Sports Complex. FIFA Secretary General highly appreciated the facilities, equipment system and development orientation here.
According to him, what PVF is building shows Vietnam's commitment to developing a football infrastructure system according to international standards, and can also become a reference model for Southeast Asia.
Concluding the letter, FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom thanked the VFF's coordination, the direction of leaders at all levels and individuals who contributed to the success of the visit.
He also expressed his desire to return to Vietnam soon and continue to cooperate with VFF in long-term football development projects, towards the development of Vietnamese football as well as Southeast Asian football.
