The World Amateur Golf Association announced the latest rankings at the end of July 31. Accordingly, golfer Nguyen Anh Minh has risen to 42nd place in the world and this is the best position that a Vietnamese golfer has achieved in the world rankings.
Nguyen Anh Minh is participating in the Western Amateur Championship 2025 in the US. Good news has come to this golfer when he officially entered the group of 16 people with the best results after the qualifying round.
Nguyen Anh Minh passed the qualifying round after the first 36 holes of the tournament on July 31. The Vietnamese player played determinedly to start the day with 70 sticks (even par).
In the next round, Anh Minh suffered from 5 bogey and 1 double bogey, which could have led to him being eliminated. However, the Vietnamese player calmly regained his form and completed the total score of -1 to qualify.
After that, Anh Minh entered the play-off round after qualifying to compete for a place in the Match Play round. At the end of the play-off round, Anh Minh had enough points to be named in the last 16 players of the tournament.
Vietnam Golf has Le Khanh Hung participating in the above tournament but did not qualify. This is the first time Vietnamese golf has had athletes in the 16-a-side group at the nearly 120-year-old Western Amateur Championship in the US.
