Expected to have more than 1,100 members attending
Vietnam Sports is expected to have more than 1,100 members participating in the 33rd SEA Games. In which, the athlete force will occupy the main force. Two years ago, Vietnamese sports had 1,003 members, including 702 athletes, participating in the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.
At that time, we won Gold Medals in many Olympic and ASIAD events held in this arena such as taekwondo, athletics, swimming, weightlifting, weightlifting, judo, boxing, cycling, golf, table tennis, boxing, gymnastics, etc.
Looking back at the 32nd SEA Games, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh (athletics) was the best athlete of the Vietnam Sports Delegation in Cambodia with 4 individual gold medals in the competition events.
This year, this player will continue to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
A representative of the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports said that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will participate in the 33rd SEA Games with forces that must complete professional tasks. We will participate in about 47 sports and sub-sports in Thailand.
The participation will be full of outstanding talents of Vietnamese sports at this time such as Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy, Nguyen Anh Minh, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Ha Thi Linh, Vu Ha Minh Duc, Nguyen Thi Oanh, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien, Nguyen Thuy Linh, Nguyen Thi That, Truong Thi Kim Tuyen, Dao Hong Son...
The sports industry carefully prepares forces in each national sports team to strive for the goal of being in the top 3 countries at the 33rd SEA Games.
Therefore, all key players have been granted athlete cards to compete in Thailand in the upcoming competition.
Promising youth movement
The top priority of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the selection of athletes to participate in the 33rd SEA Games is to combine good, experienced athletes with potential young athletes to be a stepping stone for the future ASIAD and Olympic arena.
Looking at the young force of Vietnamese sports, in true sense of age, Vietnamese sports are expected to send many potential athletes to participate in the 33rd SEA Games such as Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen (badminton), Nguyen Thuy Trang (shooting), Dang Ngoc Xuan Thien (physical education), Nguyen Thuy Hien (swimming), Le Thi Tuyet Mai (athletics), Tran Mai Ngoc (tableyball), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing)...
A year ago, Vietnamese sports had 16 athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics (France). The force of players who have been in France includes Tran Thi Nhi Yen, a potential young player, under 20 years old. However, this former player changed her mind about athletics to put her career on the sidelines of her schooling career.
Therefore, Vietnamese sports have lost one of the faces with good potential for professional development. In addition to Nhi Yen, the remaining Vietnamese athletes who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) are all over the age of 20, so in the long-term preparation for the sport, managers must calculate about investing in young athletes.
Mr. Tran Duc Phan - Former Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, once analyzed in some times and shared that: "Vietnamese sports have many potential athletes who are predicted to develop professional achievements. However, investment in high-performance sports is calculated in cycles.
The tournaments at the Congress level take place in each cycle, we must determine which force is suitable for each arena to focus on investing to bring the most efficiency".
