The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Cup will take place for the first time in Thailand from August 22 to September 7. The group stage matches will be held in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima and Phuket.
The Thai women's volleyball team is in Group A with the Netherlands, Sweden and Egypt. With home advantage, they are very determined. Recently, the Thai women's volleyball team lost 2-3 to the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in the SEA V.League final, thereby ending the consecutive championship streak in this playground, which has lasted since 2019.
However, luckily for the Thai women's volleyball team, they will have the best force for the world tournament. Coach Kiatipong Ratchatakriengkrai said that there are no concerns about injuries after the SEA V.League tournament.
He said: "Fortunately, our players did not suffer any injuries at the SEA V.League in Vietnam. What we need to consider and improve is the competition plan for the upcoming world championship.
Chatchu-on Moksri played well, while players like Wimonrat Thanaphan, Hattaya Bamringsuk and Thatdao Nuekjang have all regained their fitness.
Now we have to focus on the competition plan and the approach to the matches against Egypt, Sweden and the Netherlands in the world tournament.
Mr. Kiatipong Ratchatakriengkrai also said that the Thai women's volleyball team is expected to have a friendly match with the strongest team in Asia, China, next week to prepare for the world championship.
"We have been in contact with two or three associations, but President Somporn Chaibangyang of the Thai Volleyball Association has agreed that we will play against China in a friendly match on August 18 or 19," Kiatipong said.
This strategist also revealed that some other teams such as Ukraine and the US also want to play friendly matches with Thailand, but this is not the right time.
The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship has 32 participating teams, divided into 8 groups, each group has 4 teams. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout round. Bangkok's Hua Mark Stadium will host matches from round 16 onwards.
Thailand has participated in the World Championship 6 times in 1998, 2002, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022. Their best result came in 2018 when they finished 13th in a tournament with 24 participating teams.
