Before the final training session of the Vietnamese women's team before leaving for Australia to participate in the 2026 Asian Women's Championship finals, head coach Mai Duc Chung expressed his satisfaction with the preparation process as well as the determination of the whole team.
According to coach Mai Duc Chung, up to now, the coaching staff has completed the entire set lesson plan. "We are very happy that the training plan has been implemented well. This result is the effort of both the coaching staff and the athletes over the past time," he shared.

Another positive sign is that the team's force is gradually stabilizing as many injured players have recovered in time. Mr. Chung said: "There is nothing happier than when the athletes return to form. Currently, the team can be said to be 100% prepared for the tournament.
However, he also frankly acknowledged that the Vietnamese women's team still has certain limitations in terms of force and conditions. "We always want more, but within our ability, the coaching staff and players have done their best to have the best preparation.
Assessing the competitive environment in Asia, coach Mai Duc Chung said that teams such as the Chinese women's national team, the Japanese women's national team, the Korean women's national team and the Australian women's national team are still in the top group.
Being trained and playing friendly matches in China recently helps the team have more quality tests, especially when facing opponents with higher physique and level.

In the group stage, the head coach assessed that the Japanese women's team is the strongest opponent, while matches with the Taiwanese (China) and Indian women's teams will be direct competition. The coaching staff has developed separate tactical plans for each opponent, with the goal of achieving the best results in each match.
Coach Mai Duc Chung believes that the opportunity to advance is evenly divided among the teams, but the team that is more determined and has more favorable factors will gain an advantage.
He highly appreciated the dedication of the players, including many experienced faces who still played with enthusiasm with the desire to continue to conquer big goals, including the opportunity to participate in the World Cup.
Closing the sharing session, coach Mai Duc Chung sent a call for the companionship of fans: "I hope the whole team is always healthy, no one gets injured in training and competition.
We really hope that fans at home and abroad will continue to support the Vietnamese women's team. With high determination and encouragement from fans across the country, we will play our best for the national colors.
Also on February 26, the coaching staff officially finalized the list of 26 players of the Vietnamese women's team participating in the Asian tournament. Notably, striker Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan was added to the list and has joined the team since February 18.

The Vietnamese women's team is in Group C and will successively meet India (March 4), Taiwan (China) (March 7) and Japan (March 10). The matches will all take place in Perth, Australia. The top two teams in each group and the two third-placed teams with the best results will qualify for the quarter-finals.
