Shooting, athletics, and sepak takraw athletes confidently prepare for ASIAD 20

Leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism directly inspect training towards ASIAD 20 of many national sports teams.

On June 17, a working delegation led by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong, along with Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet and specialized units, directly inspected the training of coaches and athletes preparing for ASIAD 20.

The working session took place at the National High-Level Athlete Training Center for the Vietnam Athletics, Shooting and Sepak Takraw Team.

Reporting on professional preparation, coach Nguyen Manh Hieu (Vietnam Athletics Team) said that the whole team maintains the highest concentration to aim for the ASIAD 20 medal-scoring goal.

Vietnamese athletics has developed a plan to enhance achievements for many key athletes belonging to the ASIAD 20 performance competition prediction group.

Therefore, the players have competed in many international tournaments recently. In which from June 18 to June 21, the Vietnamese athletics team will compete in the 2026 Asian Relay Championship in China.

Above all, the coaching staff carefully assesses the professional indicators of athletes through each training cycle as well as will improve the psychology when competing," Mr. Nguyen Manh Hieu reported.

In the shooting range, the Vietnamese shooting team is training with a spirit of urgency towards ASIAD 20.

The shooters who competed at the 2026 Southeast Asian Championships in Taiwan (China) are currently on the training ground of the National High-Level Athlete Training Center.

Coach Tran Quoc Cuong said that the coaching staff has been and is drawing experience for the shooter after some recent international tournaments.

In addition to training domestically, some content teams will be internationally trained in the near future to improve their level. The shooting team also aims to win medals at ASIAD 20.

Directly exchanging with coaches and athletes of the Vietnamese men's sepak takraw team at the National High-Level Athlete Training Center, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong acknowledged the training efforts of each member but requested to ensure professional factors to find opportunities to compete for high results at ASIAD 20.

In the report, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese men's sepak takraw team said that they will register 11 players (currently training 12 players) into the official list to compete in ASIAD 20.

The professional inspection program of leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Sports Administration aims to better grasp the preparation of many key teams that Vietnamese Sports aims to compete for medals at ASIAD 20.

According to the program, the working delegation will continue to inspect and train national teams in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
