According to Lao Dong's investigation, currently the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports is reviewing the force of key coaches and athletes preparing for ASIAD 20, thereby aiming to propose increasing nutrition (food money) according to regulations.
Decree 349/2025/ND-CP Regulating regimes and policies for members of sports teams participating in concentrated training and competition has contents on nutrition regimes for coaches and athletes before participating in the Games.
The content regulating other nutrition regimes for Vietnamese sports coaches and athletes of the Decree clearly states: "Coaches and athletes who are summoned to national sports teams to prepare for SEA Games, ASIAD, Asian Para Games, Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are entitled to a nutrition regime of 600,000 VND/person/day for a period of no more than 90 days;
Coaches and athletes who are called up to national sports teams and are likely to win gold medals at ASIAD, gold medals at Youth Olympic Games, are likely to meet the standards to participate in the Olympic Games and coaches and athletes who meet the standards to participate in the Paralympic Games are entitled to a nutritional regime of 800,000 VND/person/day”.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be the unit to decide on increasing nutrition during the preparation for the important Sports Games.
From February this year, when Decree 349/2025/ND-CP was implemented, the nutrition regime for each athlete concentrated in the national sports team is 400,000 VND/person/day.
The 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20) will take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
Vietnamese sports is preparing forces to have the best number of players in the national teams towards the upcoming competition.
However, from now until the official force is determined, the national sports teams will continue to have many training programs to review the athlete's expertise to ensure choosing the right people to compete in ASIAD 20.
