Overview and assessment
Arabica coffee prices on the New York exchange fell sharply, mainly due to a wave of sell-offs in the global financial market, causing concerns about increased risks, negatively affecting commodity prices, including coffee.
In addition, ICE-supervised Arabica coffee inventories have risen to a five-week high of 801,549 bags, increasing supply pressure.
On the other hand, the Robusta market is supported by positive export results from Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), the average export price of Robusta coffee in the first half of April 2025 reached a record of 5,415 USD/ton. Reversal
In the same period, Vietnam exported 79,163 tons of green coffee beans, earning 437.73 million USD - an increase of 8.5% in volume and 68.8% in value compared to the same period last year. Robusta alone accounted for 72,078 tons, reaching a turnover of 390.27 million USD, an increase of 6.5% in output and 62.3% in value. Reversal
However, experts warn that the global coffee market still faces a significant supply deficit in the 2025-2026 crop year. Supply can only become more balanced if Brazil achieves a major crop in the 2026-2027 crop year, which will largely depend on rainfall before the Winter arrives in June.
