Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province Vuong Quoc Tuan has just signed and issued Document No. 266/TTr-UBND to the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs on the approval of the Project on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Bac Ninh province in 2025.
Accordingly, the number of district-level administrative units is currently 8 units; the number of commune-level administrative units is 121 units. After the arrangement, the province's commune-level administrative units have a total of 41 new commune-level administrative units (20 wards, 21 communes), reducing 80 commune-level administrative units (equivalent to 66.11%).
According to the Project to reorganize Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, the two provinces will merge and have a new name, Bac Ninh province, the administrative center will be located in the current Bac Giang city.
In Bac Giang, the number of commune-level administrative units is also expected to decrease from 192 to 58 units, including 13 wards and 45 communes.
Thus, after the merger, Bac Ninh province (new) is expected to have a total of 99 commune-level administrative units, with a natural area of 4,718.6 km2; population of 3,619,433 people.
