During his visit and work in Turkey, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, led the delegation of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to meet with Mr. Yasar Guler, Minister of National Defense of Turkey.
Also attending were Mr. Musa Heybet, Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkey and Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Dang Thi Thu Ha.
Mr. Yasar Guler, Minister of Defense of Turkey, expressed his delight at the results of cooperation between the two countries in general and the two Ministries of National Defense in particular in recent times.
Mr. Yasar Guler thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for sending a high-level delegation to attend the International Exhibition on Defense Industry - IDEF 2025.
Senior General Hoang Xuan Chien highly appreciated the scale of the IDEF 2025 Exhibition and the professionalism in the organization of the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
The Deputy Minister of National Defense emphasized that after the official visit to Turkey by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh (November 2023), the relationship between the two countries has increasingly developed well, creating a solid foundation to bring bilateral defense cooperation to a new height.
On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien presented a letter from General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense of Vietnam inviting Mr. Yasar Guler, Minister of National Defense of Turkey to visit Vietnam in the near future.
At the same time, he affirmed that the decision of the two countries' defense ministries to send a permanent defense attache to each country will contribute to promoting the defense cooperation between the two countries to be more practical and in-depth.
Vietnam is ready to create all favorable conditions for Turkey to deploy the Defense Attache Office in Vietnam as soon as possible.
Vietnam is very interested in international cooperation in the field of defense industry. The Government and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam always create conditions to enhance international exchanges and cooperation in the field of the defense industry according to the principle of equality, mutual benefit, respect for Vietnam's laws and other international commitments.
Senior General Hoang Xuan Chien suggested that the two sides study and strengthen cooperation in the fields of: delegation exchanges, training, overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines left over from war, defense industry; promoting cooperation in United Nations peacekeeping, cyber security, and responding to non-traditional challenges.
Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler hopes to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation with Vietnam, be ready to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, train human resources, defense industry, naval cooperation, military forces, etc.
Regarding defense industry cooperation, Turkey is ready to cooperate with Vietnam, in accordance with the needs and capabilities of each side.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien and Mr. Musa Heybet, Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkey signed an agreement between the Ministry of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey on defense cooperation.
