The Militia and Self-Defense Forces are always a force with an important strategic position
This afternoon (March 26), the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Forces (DQTV) Traditional Day (DQTV) (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025) and received the Ho Chi Minh Medal awarded to the DQTV force.

Awarding the Ho Chi Minh Medal and speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong affirmed that after 90 years of building, fighting and growing, the DQTV and Duong Forces have become a very important part of the people's armed forces, always completing well and excellently their tasks, making great contributions to the past struggle for national liberation and national reunification, as well as in the cause of building and firmly defending the beloved Fatherland of Vietnam today.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that our Party and State attach great importance to and are steadfast in the guidelines for building a national defense, a people's war posture associated with building a people's security posture, a people's security posture and a solid "people's heart posture".
In that strategic position, the DQTV is always a force with a very important strategic position and the most appropriate form of organization to implement the national defense and people's war guidelines.
Therefore, it is necessary to attach great importance to building the DQTV into the core force of the guerrilla war in the locality and at the grassroots level; it is necessary to make the DQTV have a high level of political awareness, clean, strong in organization, know how to use all types of weapons, including modern weapons and high technology to both be able to fight to protect the locality and protect the grassroots level, and be ready to supplement the main force when necessary.
Implementing the strong and widespread motto well
The President requested special attention to building a military police force with an appropriate number, reasonable structure, and increasingly high overall quality, first of all, political quality.
Organize the implementation of the motto "standing strong and widespread", focusing on improving the overall quality and combat readiness of regular, mobile, and on-site militia in strategic areas; build regular militia trading flocks and permanent militia fighting points on the land border associated with adjacent residential areas, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation;
At the same time, organize militia forces to participate in the fight against the wrong views of hostile forces against the Party, State, and Army, contributing to firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation; improving the quality of activities of military groups at the commune and ward levels and developing Party members in the Party Committee.
The President requested the organization of training for subjects and components of the military branches close to the requirements of the tasks, organization of staff, equipment, combat readiness and civil defense activities of each force, in accordance with the actual conditions of each locality.
Research and propose the arrangement of commune-level military cadres to comply with the new model of local government organization and organization and staffing of the Army, ensuring enough strength to successfully complete tasks in all situations.
President Luong Cuong believes that under the leadership and direction of the Party, the management and administration of the State, and regularly and directly the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and local Party committees and authorities, the Vietnam People's Army will increasingly mature, grow stronger, and excellently complete the assigned tasks, contributing with the entire Party, people, and army to firmly enter a new era - the era of strong and prosperous development of the nation and firmly protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
