On February 6, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a meeting with Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary.
At the meeting, the two sides were pleased to see that, since the Two-Party Meeting and the Three-Party Meeting (February 2025) to date, the relationship between the two Parties, the two States and the legislative bodies of the two countries has been constantly consolidated and developed in a direction that is increasingly close, united and more substantive.
Party channel cooperation continues to play a leading and orienting role and is the foundation for the comprehensive cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Defense and security cooperation continues to be an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries; security and order in border areas are maintained. Bilateral cooperation mechanisms are effectively implemented.
Economic and trade cooperation continues to grow positively. Cooperation in the fields of education and training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges is being promoted with attention.
The two sides agreed to continue to consolidate political trust; maintain regular contact between the parliaments of the two countries to exchange experiences in the fields of law-making, supervision and decision-making on important issues of the country; coordinate to well organize activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia (June 24, 1967 - June 24, 2027).
The two sides agreed to strengthen people-to-people diplomacy activities, promote friendly exchanges between all classes of people, especially the young generation, friendship associations, Friendship Parliamentary Groups, female parliamentarians, young parliamentarians and young parliamentarians of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos, mass organizations and border localities; and at the same time coordinate to widely disseminate the historical significance and importance of the friendship and solidarity between the two countries, especially among the young generation, to preserve and promote this invaluable asset.
National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary hopes that the Governments and National Assemblies of the two countries will strengthen the prevention of fake news, so as not to affect the relations between the two countries.
The two sides highly appreciated the results of the High-Level Meeting between the two Parties on the morning of February 6, emphasizing that this is an opportunity for the two Parties to exchange views and set out cooperation orientations for joint development.
The two sides agreed to effectively implement cooperation agreements between the two National Assemblies, continue to promote the role of the legislative body in promoting bilateral relations; supervise and urge ministries, branches, localities and businesses to effectively implement signed treaties, agreements and agreements; strengthen information exchange and experience sharing in building institutions, legal systems and supervising law enforcement.
