On May 28, at the Presidential Palace, after a solemn official welcoming ceremony, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong held talks with Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas.
At the talks, President Luong Cuong emphasized that President Sulyok Tam Tam Taman's visit, which took place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950-2025), was an important event, contributing to creating a breakthrough to increase the depth and effectiveness of the Vietnam - Hungary Comprehensive Partnership.
President Sulyok Tamas expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time; affirmed that Hungary always considers Vietnam as the most important partner in Southeast Asia and wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.
At the meeting, the two heads of state expressed their delight at the positive developments in Vietnam-Hungary relations in many fields, especially since the two countries upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Partnership in 2018.
The two leaders agreed to continue to increase contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels, through all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchanges.

Regarding trade and investment, the two leaders affirmed that this is an important pillar in bilateral relations; agreed to further promote the role of the mixed committee of economic cooperation, encourage ministries, branches, localities and businesses of the two countries to effectively implement the Vietnam -EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA); agreed to strengthen investment cooperation in the strong areas of Hungary such as Information Technology, Energy, Agriculture, Food Industry, Health, Pharmaceutical, ... as a bridge to each other into the ASEAN market and the EU market, including the Middle Eastern Europe.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong thanked Hungary as one of the first EU countries to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); thanked and suggested that Hungary continue to support the encouragement of the remaining EU countries to soon ratify this Agreement, and supported the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" for Vietnam's seafood exports.
Regarding education and training, the two sides assessed that this is a traditional area of cooperation between the two countries. The President thanked Hungary for helping Vietnam train thousands of cadres, many of whom currently hold important positions in the state apparatus and economy of Vietnam, contributing positively to the friendship between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to effectively increase the use of 200 scholarships that Hungary grants annually to Vietnamese students, prioritizing training for Vietnam in areas where Vietnam currently has high demand such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, information technology and communications, environment, and agriculture.
The two leaders agreed to promote effective cooperation in traditional areas such as defense - security, science - technology, agriculture, medicine - pharmacy, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and at the same time promote expansion of cooperation in new areas such as digital transformation, information technology, environment, and water resource management.
