Politburo member and President Luong Cuong is about to travel to the US to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The announcement of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of September 16 stated: From September 21 to 24, 2025, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will attend the High-level General Discussion Session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, combined with bilateral activities in the US.

On September 9, the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA-80) officially opened at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, USA.

The 80th United Nations General Assembly will operate until September 8, 2026 (a year-long session) with the theme throughout the day being "Connecting together for better" (Better together).

The focus of the 80th United Nations General Assembly is the Summit Week, which takes place from September 22 to 30 with the participation of many heads of state, heads of government and senior officials of all 193 United Nations member states.

As the main policy-making agency of the United Nations, the 80th United Nations General Assembly is expected to contribute to promoting organizational reform in a rapid, efficient, transparent manner and better meeting global needs.
