At the ceremony, authorized by the President, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pham Thanh Ha announced the President's decision to confer the title of Second Ambassador to Party Central Committee member, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; confer the title of First Ambassador to Deputy Head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Pham Thi Kim Hoa; Consulate General of Vietnam in Vancouver, Canada Nguyen Quang Trung; Ambassador of Vietnam to Mozambique Pham Hoang Kim; Ambassador of Vietnam to Turkey Do Hai Son.
Along with that is the President's decision to appoint the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Portugal and Ireland.
Awarding the decision to confer the title, appoint and assign tasks to the Ambassadors, Politburo members, President Luong Cuong congratulated the comrades who were conferred the title of Ambassadors and appointed as Permanent Ambassadors to Portugal and Ireland; affirming that this is a recognition and appreciation of the work and training process of comrades in the diplomatic sector, and at the same time the trust of the Party, State and the diplomatic sector with comrades.
The President said that, with the role of "key and regular", the Vietnamese diplomatic sector has an important task of contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment to build and develop the country in the new period, thereby bringing the country into an era of prosperous development.
The President suggested that comrades who have just been conferred and appointed need to continue to thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, especially Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2025 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
The President requested the diplomatic sector in general and the comrades who were conferred and appointed in particular to do a good job of research, consulting, and forecasting strategies early and from afar, promptly proposing to the Party and the State on major and important decisions and policies for the relationship between Vietnam and its partners.
The President emphasized that diplomacy must be the ambassadors to spread the image of Vietnam as independent, self-reliant, peaceful, friendly and developed. The Ambassadors must do a good job of protecting overseas Vietnamese citizens and people, acting as a reliable support for the community of nearly 6 million overseas Vietnamese; promoting the human resources, intelligence and talent of overseas Vietnamese for national development.
The President requested that Ambassadors take the lead, set an example, be responsible, pay attention to strengthening internal solidarity in both domestic agencies and units as well as representative agencies abroad; do a good job of Party work, internal political protection work, focus on training and coaching cadres at agencies, units and representative agencies.
Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the appointed Ambassadors expressed their emotions and honor to receive the decision directly from the President; demonstrating the recognition, trust and concern of the Party, State leaders and the President's individuals for the diplomatic sector and foreign affairs activities.
Representatives of the Ambassadors pledged to thoroughly grasp and closely follow the policies and guidelines of the Party and State; effectively implement foreign guidelines, promote effective and substantial cooperation with partners, thereby contributing to protecting national interests, serving national development and enhancing Vietnam's position.
