According to the Announcement of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, at the invitation of the Speaker of the Singaporean National Assembly Kian Peng Seah and his wife, and the President of the Japanese House of Councilors Sekiguchi Masakazu and his wife, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife will pay an official visit to Singapore and Japan from December 1 to 7.
In recent years, Vietnam - Singapore relations have developed rapidly, achieving many positive and comprehensive results. High-level delegation exchanges and contacts have been maintained with high frequency; relations between the two ruling parties have developed well, with the extension of the training program for mid- and high-ranking officials of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Singapore.
In 2023, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership, the two countries signed many important cooperation agreements, including upgrading the Framework Agreement on Connecting the Two Economies and establishing the Vietnam - Singapore Digital Economy - Green Economy Partnership, opening up new opportunities to promote sustainable development cooperation between the two countries, especially cooperation in new areas such as energy transition, digital economy, digital transformation, green economy.
At the same time, economic cooperation remains one of the important foundations in the relationship between the two countries. Singapore is currently the second largest investor in Vietnam with 3,742 projects, totaling over 80 billion USD. These achievements include important contributions from 18 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in 13 provinces and cities of Vietnam.
Cooperation in other important areas such as defense, security, education, culture, and people-to-people exchange is given importance for development, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
Vietnam and Japan will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023 with the exchange of about 150 delegations of high-ranking leaders and leaders of ministries, branches and localities at all levels of the two countries and more than 500 large-scale and meaningful commemorative activities in both countries.
2023 is also a pivotal year, opening a new chapter in the Vietnam - Japan friendship and cooperation relationship with the two countries' senior leaders agreeing to upgrade bilateral relations to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World".
Vietnam - Japan relations are considered a typical pair of relationships for the success of Vietnam's bilateral cooperation with its partners.
Japan maintains its position as Vietnam's leading important partner as the largest ODA aid partner, the second largest partner in labor cooperation, the third largest in investment and tourism, and the fourth largest in trade.
Cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, training, culture, people-to-people exchange, etc. has been strongly and actively promoted. Local cooperation is a bright spot in the bilateral relationship with more than 100 pairs of localities having cooperation agreements.
The community of about 520,000 Vietnamese people in Japan is the second largest foreign community in Japan, along with more than 2,500 Japanese enterprises in Vietnam, actively contributing to the development of substantive and comprehensive relations between the two countries.
