American electricity company considers Vietnam a very safe investment basis

GE Vernova (USA) assessed Vietnam as a very safe "base" of the company and wished to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam.

On the morning of September 30, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Ms. Maria Zingoni - Executive Director in charge of the power source department of GE Vernova Company (USA) and its employees who are visiting and working in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated GE Vernova's participation in many important power projects in Vietnam, as well as GE's support in Vietnam's development process and in the relationship between Vietnam and the US.

Ms. Maria Zingoni said that GE Vernova (GE) does business in the electricity sector, present in more than 100 countries, with revenue in 2024 reaching 35 billion USD.

GE started doing business in Vietnam in 1993 and currently has about 1,700 employees.

Currently, GE Vernova participates in a number of typical projects and activities in Vietnam such as: Nhon Trach 3, 4, Son La and Lai Chau hydropower plants and solar power, wind power, and grid projects in Vietnam.

Assessing that Vietnam is a very safe "base" of the company, Ms. Maria Zingoni said that GE Vernova plans and wishes to expand cooperation and investment in Vietnam such as: Providing equipment for LNG power plants; building transformer stations, equipment and power transmission solutions; providing digital technology solutions in the electricity industry.

The Prime Minister proposed that GE Vernova expand its investment in Vietnam to meet Vietnam's energy needs and sustainable development goals; contribute to the development of Vietnam's energy infrastructure and ecosystem, especially the development and participation in power source and grid projects; contribute to perfecting institutions, pay attention to training high-quality human resources in the power industry; transfer advanced technologies and experiences to contribute to the development and modernization of Vietnam's power industry; research and development of hydrogen power projects in Vietnam, towards the goal of green, clean and sustainable energy conversion.

Proposing GE Vernova to cooperate and invest in a number of specific projects, identifying Vietnam as a long-term strategic area, building a research and development center in Vietnam, signing cooperation agreements on developing power sources, power loads, and power grids with Vietnamese partners such as Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (PetroVietnam), Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), the Prime Minister requested the company to continue to voice support for Vietnam in tax negotiations with the US; together with US corporations, play an important role as a bridge, convey messages, and properly assess the actual situation for Vietnam's efforts to the Trump administration on tariffs; contributing to the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to continue to go deeper, more substantial and more effective.

Director Maria Zingoni highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts and commitments in the process of electrification towards green, clean, and carbon emission reduction; congratulated and appreciated Vietnam's economic development process; committed and wished to improve the company's supply chain, meeting Vietnam's needs; and at the same time, made efforts to solve trade challenges between Vietnam and the US as the Prime Minister commented.
