On the morning of April 25, the People's Council of Quang Binh province held the 21st session, term XVIII, 2021-2026.
Mr. Tran Hai Chau - Chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People's Council - said that this session took place in a special significant time, the whole country is aiming at major events of the nation such as 50 years of reunification and 80 years of National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This is an opportunity for the provincial People's Council to continue affirming the responsibility, the spirit of innovation and fierce for the sustainable development of the province.
According to the approved program, the session will consider and decide on housing support policies for people with revolutionary contributions, relatives of martyrs, poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council emphasized that these are practical social policies, with profound humanity, demonstrating the gratitude and care of the Party, State and the province for those who have made many contributions and sacrifices for their homeland and country.
Another key content at this session is the consideration and decision of the policy of arranging administrative units at the provincial and commune levels. Specifically, the provincial People's Council will discuss and vote for the consolidation plan of Quang Binh province and Quang Tri province into a new province named Quang Tri province, on the basis of the plan approved by the Party and the Government.
Along with that, the session will also consider the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the province, from the current 145 communes and wards to 41 commune-level administrative units. This is considered a breakthrough step, aiming to build a streamlined government system that operates effectively and efficiently, closer to the people, and more in line with the development requirements in the new period.
In addition, the Provincial People's Council will also give opinions and decide on many other important contents such as: supporting the implementation of social housing projects; amending and abolishing a number of regulations on tour fees for tourist routes; allocating career capital in 2025 to implement the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction; changing the purpose of land and forest use to serve socio-economic development projects and works in the area.
Affirming the urgency, strategic nature and long-term impact of the issues raised at the session, Mr. Tran Hai Chau suggested that the Provincial People's Council delegates promote a sense of responsibility towards voters and people in the province, focus on intelligence, democracy to discuss and decide in accordance with regulations, close to reality, for the common interests and sustainable development of the province.
