Former President Tran Duc Luong passes away at the age of 88

    Former President Tran Duc Luong passed away at 10:51 p.m. on May 20, 2025, at his home, at the age of 88.

    According to information from the Central Council for the Protection of Cadre Health, Comrade Tran Duc Luong, born on May 5, 17, former Politburo member and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, after a period of illness, despite being wholeheartedly treated by the Party, the State, and the collective of professors and doctors and nurses, and being taken care of by his family, due to his old age and weakness, he passed away at 10:51 p.m. on May 20, 2025, at his home, at the age of 88.

    The visitation ceremony, memorial service and burial ceremony for comrade Tran Duc Luong will be announced later.
