On the afternoon of November 18, at the 24th session, delegates of the 18th Nghe An Provincial People's Council attending the meeting elected Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee to hold the position of Chairman of the 18th Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026.
Nghe An Provincial People's Council voted to pass the Resolution confirming the election results with 100% of delegates attending the meeting in agreement.
Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu, 57 years old, from Hung Linh commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province; master's degree in irrigation works management.
Before becoming Chairman of the People's Council of Nghe An province, he held the positions of Chief of Office of the Provincial Flood and Storm Prevention and Search and Rescue Command, Secretary of Yen Thanh District Party Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee.
Standing Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Hoang Nghia Hieu was elected to hold the position of Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Council to replace his predecessor, Mr. Thai Thanh Quy, who was dismissed by the Politburo from participating in the Provincial Party Executive Committee, the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the position of Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term; transferred and assigned him to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission.
Previously, the Provincial People's Council conducted the process and passed a Resolution confirming the results of the dismissal of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and the termination of the duties of the People's Council delegate of Nghe An province, term XVIII, term 2021 - 2026 for Mr. Thai Thanh Quy.
