For Vietnam, developing science and technology has become an inevitable requirement to realize the aspiration to become a developed, high-income country.

Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of France and attending the Cosmopolitan Summit at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron, on the morning of September 11 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation visited and worked at the French Agency for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy (CEA) and witnessed the Handover of documents and cooperation agreements, according to VNA.

Visiting and working at the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission, the Commission's leaders introduced the development of core technologies that are France's strengths. This is the leading research, development and innovation center of France and the world, a convergence of advanced scientific and technological achievements and high-quality human resources, especially in strategically important fields such as atomic energy, semiconductors, quantum technology and artificial intelligence.

Sharing here, General Secretary and President To Lam said that for Vietnam, developing science, technology, and innovation is no longer an option, but has become an inevitable requirement to realize the aspiration to become a developed, high-income country by 2045.

This is also the consistent spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthrough development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. Atomic energy, semiconductors, aerospace and quantum technology are strategic technology fields identified as top priorities.

Focusing on cooperation orientations in the coming time, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that, regarding nuclear energy, in the context of Vietnam restarting the National Nuclear Power Program with the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant Project and the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center Project, the Committee accompany Vietnam in training human resources, improving nuclear regulatory capacity, jointly researching reactor safety and expanding cooperation to nuclear medicine.

General Secretary and President To Lam said that technology transfer cooperation needs to be promoted so that Vietnam gradually masters core technology, linking research with practical production, instead of just stopping at processing and assembly; deeper cooperation to improve the localization rate of core technology in Vietnam's new generation Earth observation satellite program; promote the development of doctoral and master's training programs to train a generation of Vietnamese scientists capable of mastering quantum technology in the future.

On the same day, General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation visited and worked at the Technology Research Center of Thales Group, located in the Paris-Saclay Science and Technology Urban Area and visited the Clean Laboratory for research in the field of semiconductors and advanced materials.
