Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung visits China's model FTZ

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung suggested that the leaders of the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) of Ningbo, China, share their development experiences.

On March 18, within the framework of his visit and work in China, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung received Mr. Thang Phi Pham - Mayor of Ninh Ba City, Zhejiang Province and worked at FTZ Ninh Ba, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

At the reception, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung expressed his pleasure at visiting Ninh Ba City, Zhejiang Province, a most important economic - trade - shipping center in the East Coast region, a model of reform, opening up, and high-quality development in China.

The Deputy Prime Minister shared his wish to increase exchanges and learn from China's experiences in promoting private economic development, developing FTZs, reform policies and opening up breakthroughs of China in general, Zhejiang province and Ninh Ba city in particular.

Mr. Thang Phi Pham affirmed that the Party Committee and government of Ninh Ba City attach great importance to the relationship with Vietnam, and are happy to share the positive results in cooperation with Vietnam in trade and investment as well as cooperation with localities, especially Hai Phong City and the establishment of a direct flight route with Ho Chi Minh City.

The Mayor of Ninh Ba City expressed his confidence that the Vietnam - China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop more strongly, especially in international trade cooperation and industrial development in the coming period; emphasizing the exemplary role of FTZ Ninh Ba in pioneering the development of FTZs in China.

Visiting and working at FTZ Ninh Ba, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that Vietnam is researching and developing breakthrough policies to promote the construction of Financial Centers and FTZs, including FTZ in Da Nang; emphasizing Vietnam's policy of promoting private economic development, making the private economic sector the leading important growth driver of the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the leaders of FTZ Ninh Ba share policies, models, and development experiences of FTZs, especially policies being piloted at FTZ Ninh Ba as well as specific policies to support the development of the private economic sector.

The leader of FTZ Ninh Ba said that after just over 4 years of operation, thanks to the advantage of deep-water ports, outstanding industrial production capacity and a wide network of trade and investment linkages, FTZ Ninh Ba is a transit destination for more than 10 million containers per year, has trade relations with 200 countries and territories and attracts 2,300 foreign investment projects, thereby making an important and positive contribution to the growth of the city and the Bac Luan region.

Sharing experiences in developing FTZs, the leader of FTZ Ninh Ba emphasized the viewpoint of promoting breakthroughs, reforms, autonomy and openness in development of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

FTZ Ninh Ba leader said that FTZ not only brings pure economic benefits but is also a framework for Chinese ministries and branches to experiment with new policies, including foreign exchange management policies and a "one-stop" administrative procedure model.

The Chinese government aims to develop FTZ Ninh Ba not only as an axis for international logistics and shipping but also as an energy distribution center, innovation and pilot area for high-quality development and smart manufacturing.

FTZ Ninh Ba has a strategic location in eastern China, playing the role of one of the most important international trade gateways in the country. In 2024, FTZ Ninh Ba was recognized as a national typical example of creative areas.

Within the framework of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung's working visit to China, the working delegation also had working sessions with the Committee for Reform and Development, the Federation of Industry and Trade of Zhejiang province, and working visits to Alibaba Group and Dai Hoa Group.
