Guangxi leads China in cooperation with Vietnam

Guangxi is a leading locality in China in cooperation with Vietnam.

On February 19, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held talks with Mr. Tran Cuong - Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on the occasion of Mr. Tran Cuong's visit to Vietnam and attending the 2025 Spring Meeting program between the Provincial Party Secretaries/ Zhuang Party Committees of the localities of Guangxi, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Hejiang and Guangxi, China.

Welcoming Mr. Tran Cuong to visit Vietnam for the first time right after taking on the position of Secretary of the Guangxi Festival, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam and China are two socialist neighbors with a long tradition of friendship, Guangxi and Vietnamese localities are increasingly "neighbors", have many deep attachments and are the leading localities of China in cooperation with Vietnam.

In an atmosphere of sincerity, friendship and trust, the two sides expressed their delight at the strong and positive development of Vietnam-China relations, especially since the two countries agreed to elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a "C Hurried Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" between Vietnam and China in December 2023. The two sides said that, along with the common development of bilateral relations, exchanges and cooperation between departments, ministries, and localities of Vietnam and Guangxi in recent times have achieved many important results, notably enhanced friendship and cooperation, strong growth in trade and investment; traffic connections have achieved many advances; good coordination in border management.

Regarding cooperation in the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that the two sides take advantage of the opportunity of the "Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year" 2025, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to enhance friendly exchanges between all levels, sectors, and people's organizations; continue to improve customs clearance efficiency; speed up the pilot construction of a smart border gate model between Lang Son and Quang Tay provinces; promote multi-modal transportation connections, including railways, roads, and sea roads, prioritize the acceleration of the Planning of standard gauge railway lines Lang Son - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong; further expand investment cooperation, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, clean energy...

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son also suggested that the two sides closely coordinate in border management and protection according to 3 legal documents on the Vietnam-China mainland border and related agreements; actively discuss and handle incidents arising on the border; operate the Ban Gioc - Duc Thien Waterfall Scenic Area safely and effectively. Proposing that Guangxi increase the provision of Chinese language training scholarships to Lang Son province and Vietnamese localities.

Agreeing with the opinions of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Quang Tay Secretary Tran Cuong affirmed that Quang Tay especially values the friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, is ready to effectively implement the common perception of the senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries, contributing practically to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, promoting the building of a Vietnam - China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

Secretary Tran Cuong made a number of specific proposals on strengthening cooperation in areas such as exchanging delegations at all levels, economy, trade, customs clearance facilitation, cooperation in science and technology, artificial intelligence, and enhancing cross-border traffic connectivity; respectfully invited leaders of the Vietnamese Government and enterprises to attend the 22nd China - ASEAN Fair held in Nam Ninh in 2025 with the theme of digital economy and artificial intelligence.
