According to the Resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of the new Tuyen Quang province (after merging Tuyen Quang province and Ha Giang province to name Tuyen Quang province) in 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, this locality has 124 commune-level administrative units, including 117 communes and 7 wards.
Of which, there are 104 communes, 7 wards formed after the arrangement and 13 communes that do not implement the arrangement are the communes of Trung Ha, Kien Thiet, Hung Duc, Minh Son, Minh Tan, Thuan Hoa, Tung Ba, Thuong Son, Cao Bo, Ngoc Long, Giap Trung, Tien Nguyen, Quang Nguyen.
Many wards (in the old Ha Giang province) were numbered as: Ha Giang 1 ward after merging Nguyen Trai ward, Phuong Thien commune, Phuong Do commune and a part of the natural area and population of Quang Trung ward.
Ha Giang 2 ward after merging Ngoc Ha, Tran Phu, Minh Khai wards, Phong Quang commune and the rest of Quang Trung ward.
After the merger, the new Tuyen Quang province has an area of 13,795.5 km2; the population is 1,865,270 people.
