In the joyful atmosphere of welcoming the traditional Tet Chôl Chnăm Thmây 2026 of the Khmer ethnic group, on behalf of the Party and State, I cordially send to compatriots, comrades and Khmer ethnic religious dignitaries my warm feelings, cordial greetings and best New Year wishes.
Vietnam is a unified nation consisting of many ethnic groups living together, in which the Khmer ethnic people with their unique and distinctive culture are an inseparable part of the community of 54 brotherly ethnic groups. The picture of Vietnamese culture becomes more brilliant and diverse thanks to the sound of Ngu Am music, the bustling Rom Vong dances, Du Ke and Ro Bam stage art, and unique traditional festivals. With a strong patriotic tradition, the Khmer ethnic people always believe in the leadership of the Party and State, and unite with the people of the whole country to actively contribute to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
Our Party and State always identify ethnic and religious affairs as having an important strategic position, as the task of the entire Party, people, army, levels, sectors and the entire political system. To consolidate and promote the great national unity bloc, in which the task of religious unity is a key factor contributing to bringing our country into a new era, rich, strong, prosperous, civilized, and happy.
In recent years, with the attention of the Party and the State, the material and spiritual life of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in general, and Khmer ethnic minority areas in particular, has been constantly improved. Infrastructure has been invested in and clearly upgraded, the rural face is increasingly flourishing; culture has been preserved and promoted, contributing to the consistent implementation of the policy of ethnic equality, solidarity, mutual assistance, helping each other develop together, and consolidating the people's trust in the Party and the State.
2026 is of great significance, starting a new stage of national development with many important events, including the very successful organization of the 14th National Party Congress, the election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term. At the same time, this is also the first year to implement the National Target Program on building new rural areas, sustainable poverty reduction and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2026 - 2035 period.
With that meaning, I propose that all levels, sectors, and localities continue to well implement the guidelines and policies of the Party and the State, in the heart of Directive No. 19-CT/TW dated January 10, 2018 of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee on strengthening work in the Khmer ethnic minority region in the new situation. Mobilize all resources to invest in comprehensive socio-economic development, especially paying attention to health work, education and training development, preserving and promoting national cultural identity; pay attention to building a contingent of ethnic minority cadres "with heart and vision". At the same time, strengthen information and propaganda work to create social consensus; pay attention to promoting the role of prestigious people, religious dignitaries, intellectuals, typical advanced examples... thereby, strongly arousing patriotism, self-reliance, national pride, creating the overall strength of the great national unity bloc.
Ministries, branches, and localities need to fully and promptly implement social security policies, pay attention to and care for the lives of ethnic minorities, especially policy families, people with meritorious services, poor households, and people in difficult circumstances. Prepare good conditions for Khmer people to celebrate the traditional Chol Chnam May Tet 2026 in solidarity, joy, health, safety, and thrift, in accordance with civilized lifestyles, customs, habits, and good cultural traditions of the nation.
In the coming time, our country will enter a new stage of development with many intertwined opportunities and challenges. I believe that compatriots, comrades and Khmer ethnic dignitaries will continue to promote patriotism, solidarity, preserve and spread good cultural and religious values; together with the entire Party, people, and army, unite to overcome difficulties, firmly step on the path of renovation and integration, successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, contributing to improving life, ensuring social security, leaving no one behind, towards building a strong, prosperous, and happy Vietnamese Fatherland.
Once again, I wish the compatriots, comrades and Khmer ethnic dignitaries a new year, new victories, happiness, peace, and prosperity.
